Dogs Trust Representative Office organised an event for dog lovers, owners and their friendly pets on September 16th, 2017 in Restaurant Sevilla’s garden on Vilson’s Lane in Sarajevo.
The Representative Office used this opportunity to announce that its new Fostering Programme has been approved, and will be launched in the following months. All those present at the event had the opportunity to hear the main details of the programme and apply to be interviewed as potential foster volunteers.
Many dog owners attended the event with their friendly dogs, and numerous children visited the Kid’s Corner, received gifts and balloons, and participated in workshops with Dogs Trust Education Officers. The event included an exhibition of summer dog photos sent in by dog owners. Owners were invited to take their photos home with them at the end of the event.
Five lucky dog owners received premium gifts for their dogs, which included a Dogs Trust Deluxe dog bed with a waterproof cover which can be removed and washed, while all participants – dog owners – also received valuable presents, including a portable, waterproof water bowl, waterproof car seat cover, toys, blankets and other useful dog products.
The Dogs Trust Fostering Programme is the Foundation’s first step in achieving its plans to provide quality support for rehoming of dogs in Bosnia and Herzegovina. By its involvement in rehoming, the Representative office will round its comprehensive support in the solution of the country’s stray dog problem. However, only the establishment of a law-compliant Dog Population Management System will lead to an efficient and sustainable solution and to the day when dogs will live with their responsible owners, instead of on the streets.
